WHAT TO EXPECT DURING A PSYCHEDELIC JOURNEY?

A psychedelic trip induced by psilocybin typically unfolds in several phases, each with its own unique characteristics. Being aware of these phases can provide a general understanding of what to anticipate throughout the journey. Generally, a psychedelic trip consists of four main phases:

Entry Phase (Approx. 1 hour):
The journey doesn’t immediately commence upon ingestion. Initially, you might experience slight nervousness and perceptual changes. Body temperature fluctuations, such as a warm face and cold hands and feet, are common. Feeling off-balance may also occur during this phase. Creating a calm and relaxed atmosphere is crucial to surrendering to the effects. Take deep breaths, settle in, and reconnect with your intention.

Immersion Phase (1 to 3 hours):
Here, the key is to surrender and let go. Allow your consciousness to flow freely, exploring infinite possibilities. Dive into your thoughts, emotions, and memories. On higher doses, the ego may dissolve, offering a profound sense of unity with the universe. Embrace both pleasant and challenging experiences with curiosity, observing without judgment.

Reflection Phase (3 to 4 hours):
As the intensity subsides, a sense of calmness prevails. Rational thinking gradually returns, accompanied by feelings of wonder and gratitude. You may gain a broader perspective on life and your place in the universe. Physical movements, like sitting up or stretching, may be accompanied by an urge to burp.

Emergence Phase (4 to 5 hours):
After the effects wane, you may feel fragile and introspective. Take time to sit silently and reflect. Some may find it challenging to interact with others or express themselves immediately. Having a cup of tea or light snacks can help ground you. Hydrate yourself and listen to uplifting music to conclude the experience on a positive note.
